Logan Cassella
Hello! My name is Logan and here is a snip-it into my world… I am a wife, mother, dog mom, and student. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Florida (2021), and I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) at Jacksonville University an accredited program by the Council of Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) (expected date of graduation 2025). During my free time I love being outside and spending time with my little one. We love to explore all the mediums of art such as mixed media and music.
During my undergraduate I worked with adolescents and teens in an inpatient mental health care facility, that specifically worked with children who were on a voluntary and involuntary Baker Act hold. Recently I had the opportunity to gain experience working at an outpatient learning and behavioral health center that provided psychoeducational assessments and counseling services for children and adults.
As a CMHC graduate student I must obtain clinical experience through an internship in order to graduate. Therefore, I am currently an intern for St. Augustine Counseling and my supervisors are Arielle Hobbs and Bradley McKibben (JU professor). As an Intern receiving my clinical hours, my counseling services will be supervised, and feedback will be given.
It is important you know that we will be growing together, as I will be exploring my therapeutic approaches and learning the best ways to support you. Thus far I have naturally adopted a Motivational interviewing (MI) approach along with some Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). With these approaches I will support you with empathy and guidance while providing you with the tools to accomplish your goals and promote change.
Counseling is meant to be a positive journey, however as we go through some counseling sessions, we may discuss some difficult topics and encourage adjustments, all of which can be uncomfortable. Therefore, I will always encourage honesty and transparency, and if you are not ready to explore something, I will always meet you where you are. However, I do hope to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you that allows me to encourage you to find your role in this journey. I strongly believe that our therapeutic relationship is a two-way street, meaning that you must be willing and ready to accept the changes that are necessary for your growth.
